The way you depict Narcissists and Sociopaths as suffering from a ‘disorder’
cracks me up. A blind man can see that people with those traits tend to be the
most successful in contemporary society. Indeed, Narcissism is the dominant mode of behavior in contemporary culture (consider the cult of celebrity). And the fact that women find Sociopaths/Narcissists most attractive means their numbers will only increase.

After reading the above response by Rookh from Anglobitch.com I have come to a realization in my life. I’m a such as fool… I sat here at my computer for the past several days and tired and tired to pick apart her words and alas I could not. It’s a tough road a head of me now, now with the realization that I am inferior to the narcissist/sociopath. I was a fool to think that being given over to the attempted adherence to a set code of checks and balances, morals and ethics.
So true this Angelo is in opening my eyes to the futility of forwarding the ideals and truths of a dead and overrated history.
Just a quick follow up to this, now my personal awaking… I believe that the Angelo has in her own way forwarded to us the future key to life in an understanding that within the context to Personalities, we are entering into a Global Paradigm Shift of species of humans. How will I fit in without belonging to the “cult of celebrity?” If I denounce my past errors will you accept me into your fold? What do I do? Do you have the answers? Please help this Hunter who has lost his way and gone off the trail, will you please?

I am not trying to proclaim NPD, I am simply saying it is now so widespread as to be normative. Western (especially Anglo-American) culture is clearly witnessing a neurotype transformation, wherein the old collectivist type (you?) is being supplanted by a narcissist type. Think about it (you can dare to think?) – 19th Century philanthropists started Museums and universities, how many modern ‘celebrities’ would do that? You seem to imply the ‘cult of celebrity’ is marginal – it is not. The VAST MAJORITY of people today fantasize about wealth, fame, glory – just check the news-stands of any western city, literally groaning with celebrity/lifestyle magazines… in fact, nearly EVERY magazine aimed at women has a celebrity theme.
No, an advanced industrial society cannot survive with such widespread NPD (mass immigration is now essential to most western countries because most western people won’t do ‘ordinary jobs’). You are confusing description with prescription, a classic error.
Also, this Vaknin you cite has classic Narcissist traits – he cultivates a harem of pliant women who hang on his every word, is an overt authoritarian, makes claims to an intellectual status and credibility he manifestly lacks… in short, a classic narcissist. And you thought narcissists don’t rule…? In fact, you yourself are probably a narcissist. Keeping a Blog would be considered narcissist by say, 1950s standards.
Sorry to drive you into the ground like a tent peg. Er, well, I’m not so sorry at all.

Sorry for my mistake as I seem to have been correct. I guess I would say I’m a socially conscious individualist. About your last point, you seem to be missing what narcissism is all about. It’s not a choice. It’s not something that is marketed into a person, not subliminally altering minds with “Buy This, Buy This”.. If, and a rather promising “if”, anything about the West has something to do with it all of it starts at daycare and the parents dropping their young minds off at someone that either harms or abandons the children. The others are caused by molesting, abuse and abandonment. It’s the brains way of protecting itself.. NPD is PTSD, not “the cult of celebrity” .
These people are mentally ill, you understand the difference right? I just recently had one for a room mate. She was a stripper that was out on the streets since she was 10yo. Mother beat her growing up and drugs from age 8 on up ect. ect… I think you have missed the boat on narcissism as it has absolutely nothing to do about a space or time in a society.
Where are you from? You obviously do not know the American way do you? “Fantasize about wealth, fame, glory” you obviously don;t know anything about how California was first settled and by whom do you? Listening to my Great Grandfather speak of the why’s and how they came out west in the late 1800’s you’d realize that it’s always been that way here in America… It’s just grotesque now days. Everybody in America all the time is dreaming about how to get rich… Why do you think we are the most inventive Country in the world today.

My Ex girlfriend was malignant NPD and I came to the internet and this Blog to “hint” her… Her name and photo is on this site as I do not want anyone to be mistake or have someone she is targeting to rip off not have an opportunity to find out the truth… I did this to help others and it has morphed into my doing the same about others I have an opinion about…
Oh, I have no idea why you would think you “drove me to the ground like a tent peg”… it’s obvious you know nothing about the printing press and how it was used to send newsletters in it’s earliest days.. Sir, this is just an electronic newsletter and by your clicking on it would be your asking for a subscription…. Since you’d rather go around acting like you know something and driving tent pegs (I stay at the Dorchester when in London, No tents) and find you a psychologist and ask him/her what NPD is… Obviously you missed the point. Also, Vaknin is a narcissist… he says so in his disclaimer.. Stop pegging and start reading… Maybe someday you’ll get that sex change you’ve been wanting… because your very sexist.

I forgot, grab a copy of this book that should give you a better understanding of what you are trying to talk about. It’s about the narcissistic traits that accompany lack of respect, lack of empathy, “fame” and the byproducts of such… It does not mean that they are narcissists, they just exhibit the traits. Traits can be reversed by self respect, respecting others, humility, decency ext…
Then, take Dr. Drew’s NPI test. It will show you as just an indicator if you have the traits of a narcissist… BTW; I was a 4… I doubt you gt less than a 12…

Sir, you miss the whole point. Psychology is not the discipline you need to study Narcissism, it is sociology and sociobiology.
*It does not mean that they are narcissists, they just exhibit the traits. Traits can be reversed by self respect, respecting others, humility, decency ext…*
They won’t be, though, because the ruling elite has no practical incentive to stop promoting narcissistic values (and every incentive to keep advancing them). Capitalism works by selling things, and you can sell much more to narcissists than anyone else. That’s why they focus on women, who are inherently narcissistic. Stop wasting your time friend, put it to more constructive use (like digging the garden). You can’t beat the Narcissist Wave like you can’t order back the tides.
